Case Study

Ford Autoshow Information Kiosk

Overview

Each vehicle on display at Ford’s show has a companion specification kiosk (“SpecPod”) that allows attendees to browse vehicle stats, trim packages, and color options.

Problem

The existing kiosk design was outdated and clunky, requiring a redesign.

Target

This experience had to be clean, professional, and universally-appealing, as the autoshow attracts a wide variety of users and potential customers.

My Role

I took the existing Specpod and mostly re-skinned it. However I did re-architect small portions in order to finesse the experience.

Each vehicle on display at Ford's show has a companion specification kiosk ("SpecPod") that allows attendees to browse vehicle stats.

The existing kiosk design was outdated and clunky and required a redesign.

I created a newer, sleeker concept, with larger imagery and a nice, flat design.

These “Spec Pod” apps were installed on Windows tablets housed inside special consoles. There is at least one console next to each vehicle at every auto show Ford participates in

They allow users to browse vehicles, trim levels, and colors. They also allow users to sign-up for e-brochures, printed brochures...

... and test drives.
